HE LEGEND OF CASTLE KEEP

Once upon a time there lived Lord and Lady Ascot, who were blessed by a wise man on their wedding day. His blessing promised the Lord would always stay safe with the Lady’s eye on him.

One day, the Lord gathered his noblemen and left to go on a hunting trip. Travelling too far ahead, the Lord became separated from the group. Close by, a hungry creature patiently waited intent on ambushing the disoriented Lord.

Back at the castle, the Lady became concerned about the Lord’s safety. Remembering the words of the wise man, she wasted no time. Mounting her steed she rode into the perilous woods in search of her love.

Arriving in the knick of time, the thunderous sound of her stallion’s hoofs on the forest floor scared off the creature, saving the Lord from danger.

Re-united, they rode back to the castle, the Lord knowing how lucky he was. A feast was held that evening, and in honour of his Lady, the Lord announced he would build a keep within the castle so she could always watch over him.

Legend has it she still watches over the community, ensuring the safety of all who live within it.
